In less than a month we will be putting on our annual Kids Fishing Day, introduced over a decade ago by Oshawa MPP and former Minister of Natural Resources Jerry Ouellette. The event is free to attend for families with children who want to experience a great day of fishing, outdoor enjoyment and more. Volunteers to help at the pond to teach casting and fishing techniques to youth are welcome to contact us and arrange to come out. Volunteers to help at the rod and bait station as well as helping to facilitate parking are needed as well. The event has a website: Kids Fishing Day 2013

2013 should be a time of new beginnings for SCOFWA. We will, of course, be continuing with our currently annually-recurring events and programs. However, we are pleased to announce a new partnership for a conservation project in the north end of Oshawa. We, with assistance from the City of Oshawa and the ODAWGs (Oshawa Durham Area Walking Group) are planning a shoreline revitalization along the Grandview stretch of the Harmony Creek that runs through the Harmony Valley Dog Park.
None of our endeavors would be successful without our volunteers and members. If you want to become involved, send us an email or a phone call and we can direct you to your project or event of interest.
